I took my 41 week pregnant butt to Target today, and dragged Penny along, for some deal chasing. I was hoping my water would break so I could yell "clean up on aisle 4", but no such luck. However I did have an excellent shopping trip.
So here's the breakdown:
2 Kandoo wipes @ $1.42 ea. - (2) $1/1 MFQs = .42 ea.
2 Shout travel packs @ .97 ea. - (2) .55/1 MFQs = .42 ea.
1 Happy Baby puffs @ $2.69 - used FREE coupon from Recycle Bank
1 Annie's Bunny Grahams @ $1.99 (sale)
1 Market Pantry strawberry milk @ .99 (kept Penny happy while I shopped)
1 Aveeno beauty bar @ $1.89 - $1/1 MFQ and $1/1 Target Q (from Target Beauty sample bag) = .89
1 NYC nail color @ $1.72 - $1/1 MFQ (from All You Magazine) = .72
1 Cover Girl eye shadow @ $3.14 - $2/1 MFQ and $1/1 Target Q (from Beauty Bag) = .04
2 Olay Facial Cleanser @ $4.99 ea. - (2) $1/1 MFQs and (1) $1/1 Target Q (from Beauty Bag) = $6.98 + got $5 Target GC = .99 ea.
2 Olay lotions @ 4.99 ea. - (2) $2/1 MFQs = $5.98 + got $5 Target GC = .98
2 Huggies 508 ct. wipes @ 11.99 ea. - $2.50 MFQ (from mailer) and .75 MFQ = $20.73 + got $5 Target gift card (for buying 2 Huggies box wipes)
1 Huggies Little Snugglers @ 8.99 - $2/1 MFQ = $6.99
1 Huggies 72 ct. wipes @ $2.39 - used FREE wipes wyb Little Snugglers = FREE
+also used $4 off wyb wipes refill pack and Little snugglers Target Q (from baby mailer)
so I got all of those Huggies items for a total of $23.72 (less than just the 2 boxes of 508 ct. would have been by themselves) + got a $5 GC back, making the net total for these items $18.72
3 Ore-Ida frozen potato products @ $2.49 ea. (store sale of B2G1 free) - $1/2 MFQ = $1.33 ea.
Dollar Spot items (I am such a sucker for these):
Beatrix Potter book
reusable lunch bag
2 owl figurines
toddler sunglasses
magnetic note pad
= $6
+ $3.35 tax
Total was $58.10
I used a $5 gift card (which I got buying the cat litter deal)
Out of pocket = $53.10
+ got $15 in Target gift cards
Net total = $38.10
Bottom of my receipt says I saved $47.94
Woohoo! I could have scored a few more freebies if the coupon kiosk was working. Apparently the computers at my Target are having technical issues and won't print coupons ;(

coupons for things to poop on
At the top of my list of things I hate to spend money on is toilet paper and cat litter. Things for people and pets to poop on and then throw away. I feel like I am literally flushing my money down the drain. So I am always looking for deals on these. Here's how I essentially got 80 lbs. of cat litter for a $1 this weekend.
Target has a deal on Arm and Hammer cat litter this week: Buy 2 40 lb. boxes @ $12.99 ea., get a $5 Target gift card back. So I bought 2 and used my free $20 Target gift card that I received from Plum District. Paid $6 + tax out of pocket and got a $5 gift card back ;D
This deal would have been even sweeter if I had printer ink and could have printed out some of these coupons to use:
$1/1 Clumping Cat litter
$1.50/1 litter
Even if you don't have a sweet $20 gift card like I did, you can get a pretty great deal on the cat litter. Buy 2 @ $12.99 ea. - use (2) $1.50/1 printables = pay $22.98 + tax, and get a $5 gift card back = $17.98 for 20 lbs. of litter. Seeing as one of these boxes is usually around $16, that is an excellent deal!
AND here's a deal on Toilet Paper at Target too, courtesy of Hip2Save!

Refer 4 friends, get a $20 Target gift card

Plum District has a deal today where if you refer 4 friends to their site, they will send you a $20 Target gift card!! Sounds pretty simple and pretty magical to me.

Target kitchen dept. clearance
If you are in the market for a new spatula or lemon baller then you are in luck. I was at Target today and the had tons of stuff clearanced in their kitchen gadgets department. Little red stickers dotting the aisles -- one of my favorite sights to see.
I bought a metal strainer for $4, a paring knife for >$1, a dish scrub brush for $1, a slotted spoon for $4 (the whole reason I even ventured into that aisle in the first place), and a food processor for $19.98 (orig. $39.98)!
Yes, this clearance is also on things like blenders and the like. It appeared to me that things were mostly 50% off. Keep your eyes peeled!
Random: I also scored a deal on Happy Baby squeezy foods. They were .89 ea. and I had a coupon for B6G1 free that came in a baby mailer. They are good for a year, so I am going to put them in the pantry until baby boy is ready for solids...

dead (wo)man shopping
So today was a HUGE day of shopping for me because I have been sort of snowed-in for 3 days + I had lots of Qs about to expire.
Old Navy is having 40% extra off their clearance. I got a boatload of stuff there. Spent $82, saved $238. My little boy is now clothed until the age of 2 I think. hahaha

I went to TJ Maxx to try to find a good deal on a moses basket. They didn't have any, but they were having a huge store-wide clearance sale, so I found a few goodies. I got a Melissa and Doug puzzle for Penny for $4, a pair of Izod baby shoes for $3, and a Beatrix Potter sticker story book for $3 (saving this for Easter basket).

I hit up Toys R Us for the great deal on Babyganics wipes I read about on My Frugal Adventures today. I bought 6 of the 120 ct. packs @ clearance price of $2.98 ea. B1G1 = $8.94 (that's about .01 per wipe!). I bought 10 of the 30 ct. packs @ clearance price of .98 ea. B1G1 = $4.90 (that comes out to less than .02 per wipe). I also bought 2 packs of Take n' Toss straw cups (Penny's preferred drinking vessel these days) @ $3.49 ea B1G1 50% off + I used a rewards coupon from my email that was B1G1 50% off any meal accessories. So I ended up paying $1.61 per pack. In addition, I bought the Graco Room Full of Fun (stroller, bouncer, etc. for baby dolls) that was on sale for $19.99 (orig. $34.99) and used the $10 in rewards certificates that I had, making it $9.99. I plan on giving this to Penny after the baby is born so she can take care of her babies in some of the same ways I am. I think that will help her adjust.
I paid $30.08 for everything, and saved $41.46.

I went to Target to see if there was anything left in the 75% off toy clearance. There really wasn't. It had been totally ambushed. I did find an adorable tent for Penny that looks like a tree stump (not pictured b/c I left it in the car trunk) for $20, orig. $30. That's not the best deal ever, but I've had my eye on this for a while, so I jumped. Other than that I got a few grocery deals and a couple of clearance shirts for the boy (I know I'm nuts). The clothes cost $8.28 (sorry, dunno orig. prices right now). Here's my grocery deals:
*Juicy Juice 8 pk. of juice boxes @ $1.97 - this is the reg. price, but Targ is the cheapest place to get them, so I always do.
*2 Pace salsas @ $2.99 ea. - used .50/1 MFQ and .50/2 Targ Q = $2.49 ea. (not sure if this is that great of a price or not...)
*Newman's Own Organic sauce @ $1.89 (price cut) - I always buy Newman's at Targ b/c it is the lowest price all the time as well. I usually have a Q, but didn't this time. However I was pretty psyched that the Organic was on price cut to be the same price as non-O.
*3 Kraft shredded cheese @ 2.04 ea. - used .75/1 Targ Q and $1/2 Targ Q = $1.46 ea.
*2 Kashi bars @ $2.65 ea. - used $1/2 Targ Q = $2.15 ea.
*1 World's Best Cat Litter @ $7.49 - will submit rebate = FREE

Suitcases

If anyone is in the market for a suitcase, Target had clearance on a ton of luggage stuff that I saw tonight. Most specifically a a giant and adorable patterned (girly) suitcase that was originally $70, marked down to $34. It took a lot of willpower for me not to buy that, but I figure what is the point in getting my hopes up that we are going on a vacation anytime soon that would warrant that huge of a suitcase ;(

75% off toys at Target

Target is having their annual clearance toy blow-out right now (which happens the last week in July every year!). Plus there are lots of baby + children's clothes on clearance, and a great shoe clearance.
I got children's shoes for $3.74. A Paul Frank t-shirt for $1.98. And about a zillion toys for under $5 ea. I wanted to take pictures of my loot for you all, but I just hid it away in the closet as soon as Penny went to sleep and I don't want to mess with it now. Tooooo tired. But just take my word for it, it was an awesome haul!!
Most of the signs say 30% off, but if you actually look at the tags, things are 75% off. You have to really walk through each aisle of toys and keep your eyes peeled for the little red stickers. Today was the first day of the mark-downs I believe, so there was still a lot of stuff at around 7pm when I was there. By tomorrow I doubt there will be as much, but it will probably be your last chance to get many of the best deals b/c by the end of tomorrow I am betting everything will be totally picked through.
Take care of Xmas gifts now and be done with it!

Target and Wag's 5/13
Yeah, I took another little trip to Target today. I had to return some stuff. So I hit up a few more deals while I was there...
1 Kandoo wipes @ $1.65 - used $1/1 MFQ = .65
3 Sure deoderants @ $1.97 ea. - used (3) $1.50/1 MFQs = .47 ea. + they had "try me free" stickers on them, so after a MIR of $1.97 I will get for one of them (only 1 MIR per household) I will actually make .56 (well, after postage I guess it will only be .14 profit, but whatever, free's free)
1 Motrin PM @ $3.99 - used $3/1 MFQ and $1/1 Targ Q = FREE
1 Merona skirt @ $19.99 - used 20%/1 found in Parents Mag = $15.99
Total = about $19
Saved = $13.50 (42%)
I could have gotten a better deal using the 20% Merona Q on something that was on sale or clearance, but instead of buying another t-shirt or something I don't really need/want, I decided to use it on something that I wanted badly. I just hope it doesn't go on sale next week and make me feel like a jerk for premature coupon usage (does Target do price adjustments?).
Then I went to Walgreen's and got:
1 Eos shaving cream @ $2.99 + got $3 RR = FREE
1 watercolor paint set on clearance @ $1.49 (orig. $4.49) - not shown in pic
1 garden shovel @ $3.99 (I just really needed this at the moment) - not shown in pic
-used $4 RRs
OOP = about $5 (I don't have the receipt in front of me right now)
+got $3 RRs
Net cost = about $2

Target highlights
I took a lil trip to Targ today, here are some of the highlights of my venture:
Little Miss Sunshine DVD @ 7.50 - used $2/1 printable (I printed this a long time ago and it was expiring today! score!) = $5.50
Cherry Coke 2 liter @ 1.39 - used FREE coupon peelie from the aforementioned DVD = FREE
Annie's Bunny fruit snacks @ 2.99
KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce @ 1.42 - used $1/1 MFQ = .42
Kandoo flushable wipes @ 1.65- used $1/1 MFQ = .65
Soft Scrub extend spray @ 8.69 - used $5/1 printable MFQ and $5 Targ Q (get a $5 gc) = $1.31 moneymaker!!
I also had a $3 Targ Q off of 2 Kai-lan products. I don't really care about this show, but I figured if I could find something free somehow, I would get it to donate. Well I priced a few things. The cheapest thing I saw were some Kai-lan books that were about $4, so it would be $5 for 2 books after coupon. It wasn't worth it for me, but if someone out there has a kid who is into this show, maybe this would be a good thing to get and stuff in the gift closet for xmas or something. I got the coupon from Target.com
I also had a $2 Targ printable Q for Merona sunglasses. There are some on sale for $9.99, so it would be an alright deal if this is something you need. I didn't see any that I liked and that I thought were worth $8, but that's just me...
Some of the other deals I was after were met with empty shelves. I might try to go back later this week and see if things have been re-stocked. I was in Targ on Saturday briefly and it was ridiculous in there. Mother's day shoppers I guess. So they are probably still recuperating from that madness.

Target 4/13
I scored some great deals at Target today, even with the accompaniment of a tantrum-throwing toddler!
Grocery:
Annie's Bunny Crackers @ $1.99 - on sale
Bear Naked granola @ $3.79 - used $1/1 printable = $2.79
Chocolate Silk soymilk @ $2.69 - used .75/1 MFQ = $1.94
Bedding:
Queen size bed pillow @ $4.04 - used $1.50/1 Target printable = $2.54
Circo kid's sheet set@ 13.99 - used 20%/1 Target printable = $11.19
Kitchen:
6 pack kids tumblers @ $1.38 - clearance
6 pack kids bowls @ $1.38 - clearance
Outdoor:
Solar walk-way light @ $3.00 - used $2/1 Target printable = $1.00
Dollar spot:
box of Brawny sandwich bags @ 1.00 - dollar spot
beach towel @ $2.50 - used $1/1 Target printable = .50
set of 4 bamboo placemats @ $2.50 (I hang these on the wall and hang my earrings on them)
Baby:
A&D Ointment @ $3.94 - used $2/1 Target Q (from mailer) and $1/1 MFQ from Parent's Mag (I think) = .99
California Baby bug repellent @ $12.99 - used $1/1 = $11.99 (you don't really find much better deals on this stuff, sadly)
-My store was all out of the Kandoo travel wipes which would have been .65 after MFQ
-Also, Huggies wipes are on sale for $1.66 this week, so if you have any Qs for that, this is a good time to use them. I didn't have any on me today.
*I only bought the A&D because I thought I had read the price as $2.99, so I thought I was getting it for free after Qs, but apparently it either rang up wrong or I read the price wrong. I have to go back to return some clothes, so I will double-check the price then. I might return it and get my dollar back b/c I really don't need this (was going to give it away or sell it in my yard sale), but if I did need it, this would be a great price on it...
All of those Target printables came from HERE although some of them may no longer be available. Remember, you can stack Target store Qs with Manufacturer Qs to get excellent savings!
ETA: I took the A&D back to the store. The employee looked at my receipt and said the ointment did ring up at the sale price of $2.99, but apparently my cashier rang my $2 Q, but not my $1 one. Since I had no way to prove that I had given the coupon, I just went ahead and got a refund. However, if you happen to have the Target mailer Q and the MFQ from the newspaper, you can get free A&D right now. Just make sure they scan both of your coupons!

Market Pantry black beans can .64
Market Pantry kidney beans .64
Chocolate silk $2.69 - used $2/1 MFQ bought on ebay = .69
Cosmetic bag $6.48 (clearance from $12.98)

8 boxes of poptarts 8 ct. @ 1.75 ea. - used $1/2 MFQs from 8/2 Kellogg's insert and .75/1 Target Qs = .50 ea.

Net = $30.81 ($25.23 when I return ensembles)
Gotta love saving more than you spend!
The best thing about this trip was that I got things I actually need right now, such as the wetjet and the Electrasol. A lot of things I buy are to put in the stockpile for later, which is nice, but it's always pleasing when I get to buy urgent necessities at rock bottom prices.

Toys and Clothes for the Kiddies

The word on the street is that July is the time for toys and baby stuff to go on mass clearance in the retail world. I saw evidence of this at Target tonight. The toy aisles were filled to the brim with red clearance stickers. There are some excellent deals to be had, and if you are smart, you will take this opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping. It's always much more economical to shop for the holidays at times like these rather than wait until the last minute when you are screwed into paying whatever price the stores want to ask because you need a gift ASAP.
Kmart also has tons of toys on clearance. In fact, last time I was there, the clearance toys were all 50% off original prices. Pair that with this coupon for $5 off any toy purchase of $20 or more, and you have yourself a deal!
And as for outfitting the babes and kidlets for fall/back-to-school: if you are an Old Navy fan who likes to shop online to avoid dealing with crowds and nuisance, count yourself lucky because right now (until 7/16) you can use the coupon code "btschool" for FREE SHIPPING on any order that includes a children's item. Be brilliant and begin your online shopping adventure at Ebates to get 8% back on your purchase.
However, if you prefer to actually take the trip to the store, make sure to visit Old Navy Weekly and see if you can snag a coupon to take along!

rookie mistakes

My Target trip today was one of those times I end up kicking myself for making dumb mistakes that end up w/me paying more than I had planned for things.
I had 2 b1g1 Target Qs that said "only one per transaction" on them, but I figured it didn't matter b/c I had used 2 Qs that said this before w/no problem. I guess b/c it was B1G1, the register actually gave a crap. So my 2nd Q beeped and wouldn't go thru. Normally I would have just taken the offending items off then and there and re-did the whole thing, but it was busy and people were lining up behind me quickly, and I so hate being "that guy", so I just paid. Jon was with me and convinced me to turn around and return the full-price box of cereal and use the remaining B1G1 Q to get 2 more boxes. So I did. In the end, I paid .90 a box for 5 boxes of Kashi cereal which is usually $3.69 a box, so I really can't complain.
My real point in saying all this is that you know you have a real coupon obsession/problem when you let the fact that you would have gotten 4 boxes of cereal for .33 each, but instead got 5 for .90 each REALLY bother you and eat away at you all day. It's dumb b/c really, .90 a box is still an insanely good price on some fancy-ass cereal. But I am still irked...
However, I learned a lesson today and I will not make that same mistake again. And that is pretty much how I've learned a lot of lessons in this Q business. Trial and error.
